Founders Ben Knox and Brandon Mackie Dish on Keto Farms
|April 23, 2019|People,
The Keto Farms founders flipped a mutual interest in the ketogenic diet—a very low-carb nutritional regimen where the body turns fat into ketones for use as energy—into an easily accessible product line.
How did you get started on the keto diet initially? Knox: In 2016, The Tim Ferriss Show featured medical researcher Dom D’Agostino walking through the latest research on keto. It changed my entire perspective on diet and nutrition overnight. I got on the diet and within two short weeks was feeling incredible: more consistent energy, less brain fog and, eventually, the ability to stay lean without exercising as much.
What prompted you to develop the Keto Farms line? Knox: So much of what we saw in the market was processed food made to fit the keto macros—cookies, brownies, even gummy bears. We make clean food you’ll actually crave. Our snacks and drinks solve two big problems for keto dieters: knowing what to eat and having access to food on the go.
What do you wish more people knew about keto? Mackie: Keto is more than just a diet, it’s a lifestyle. Sticking with clean foods that are high in healthy fats and low in processed carbohydrates is something we think can help everyone look and feel better.
