THE PARTY On a special star-filled night in Los Angeles, the American Icon Awards threw a bash at the legendary Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills honoring some of the biggest names in town and raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Hospital as well as other nonprofit organizations. To entertain the heavy hitters, the live musical performances were equally A-list.Robin Thicke; Jackie Cruz of Orange is the New Black; Quincy Jones’ protégé, Sheléa; Pia Toscan; Matteo Bocelli, son of music legend, Andrea Bocelli; and comedian Sebastian Maniscalco all took to the stage.
THE SCENE It was the fabulous honoring the fabulous all night: Naomi Campbell presented to Quincy Jones while Laila Ali (daughter of Muhammad Ali) presented to Evander Holyfield, David Foster presented the Innovative Philanthropy Award to Jonathan D. Fischer and Christine Avanti-Fischer, while NFL Veteran Devon Still was honored by George Martin. But the biggest moment may have been when Robert DeNiro gave his old friend Al Pacino with the Icon Award.
THE HIGHLIGHTS All honorees were given a signature Rado watch to commemorate the moment. Pacino received a HyperChrome Skeleton Automatic Chronograph, a limited-edition watch made in the brand’s signature high-tech ceramic. Rado also donated the same model bestowed to Pacino for the awards’ live charity auction. The watch’s box was signed by VIP attendees including Pacino himself, Holyfield, Still, Cruz, Oscar de la Hoya, Peter Facinelli, Matteo Bocelli and more.
