What might a home look like when you incorporate inspiration from your background in theater?
Look no further than Adam Hunter’s first-ever custom home. Located in Brentwood, the project has been three-and-a-half years in the making and proves to truly have been worth the wait.
In the past, Hunter has designed for celebrities like Travis Barker, Neil Patrick Harris, Christina Hendricks and Kate Somerville. His expertly-honed craftsmanship and eye trained for the stars certifies that this Brentwood home is a true crown jewel of Los Angeles.
One of the most exciting, and clearly theater-inspired elements, are the floating glass kitchen cabinets reminiscent of Cinderella’s glass slipper. Custom made in partnership with Amuneal, the six-figure kitchen feature is Hunter’s first project in California to have them.
Specially designed from the ground up, the Brentwood estate is a premier example of Hunter being at the forefront of a whole new approach to designing and developing homes. His process begins with the finish of the space first. For example, he starts with the lighting and custom rugs and then builds out the room thereafter.
Listed for $25 million, the 11,280-square-foot home sprawls across six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Hunter opted to ditch traditional white drywall for something more inviting and warm and wrapped every surface in wallpaper, fabric or leather. The primary bedroom is particularly outstanding with its hand-beaded Scalamandré wallpaper that’s worth over $100,000.
The three-levels connect with ease given the Paris-inspired stairwell. Thanks to Sean O’Connor, who did the lighting for the entire house, you’ll feel as if you are being magically transported rather than trudging up some stairs. The stairwell chandelier is impeccably accentuated by the fluted white oak wall detailing.

Hunter’s custom home also stands out for its inclusion of a number of custom rugs, a lacquered dining room, an elegant office and the entertainment floor. This level of the house has a screening room with blush-colored mohair seating and walls wrapped in custom grey leather panels. To top it off, the wellness center features a plunge pool, massage room and gym, which only sets you up for an even greater infinity pool outside. The backyard finishes with a pool house and al-fresco dining pavilion.
The Brentwood Hanover Street home is owned by Steve Schwartz of Aerista and listed by Hilton & Hyland agent Drew Fenton. Architecture was done by Ken Ugar.
