Effortlessly beautiful with a carefree personality to match, celebrity stylist and Amanu founder Anita Patrickson has an equally easy-breezy style. “It’s funny: Before I became a stylist, I would make a huge effort with what I wore and was really into my wardrobe as a means of expression,” she explains. “Now, I lean toward being comfortable and functional.” Don’t let that practicality fool you: The South Africa native always looks chic. She has a penchant for jeans and blazers (Jil Sander, Sies Marjan, Anine Bing and Saint Laurent are go-to labels), wears made-to-order Amanu sandals six days a week and looks to luminaries like Peggy Guggenheim for style inspo. “She was so fabulous, and I admire the energy and thought she put into her outfits,” Patrickson says. “We need more individuality like that.” This summer, look out for an Amanu pop-up at The Piece Collective in Venice, and come fall, a block heel will launch in-store. Here, Patrickson shares some of her latest lust-haves.
1. “I have this in three colors. It’s the easiest, most comfortable, flattering jumpsuit.” Julian Workwear jumpsuit, $650, by G. Label at Goop Lab, Brentwood Country Mart
2.“I am obsessed with all of Daniela Villegas’ jewelry. The Porcupine Collection is made from quills my father collects on our family farm in Africa, which makes them extra-special.” Power ring, $8,000, Just One Eye, Hollywood
3. “My resolution this year was to consume consciously, which stems from Amanu and has now filtered into everything I do and touch. While $80 might seem a little steep for a water bottle, it encourages me to drink more water and not buy single-use plastics. I have the rose quartz one, which is so pretty!”
4. “I adore Gabriela Hearst’s bags—they are so chic and different. The white Nina style is perfect for summer.” Price upon request
5. “I am an old-fashioned gal and I need to write everything down. I would be lost without my Smythson agenda. I splurge on a diary for the new year every January.” 2019/20 midyear Soho agenda in navy, $295
6. “This is the perfect sandal for summer. It’s so delicate and sexy, goes with everything and gives you legs for days!” Style 10 gladiator in gold, $250, Amanu, West Hollywood
7. “Buying swimsuits is not something you will find me doing for fun, so when I find something I love, I buy it over and over! I always get stopped and asked where these suits are from.” Les Essentiels Aquarelle one-piece swimsuit, $300, Eres, Beverly Hills
8. “I wear this Eric Buterbaugh fragrance every day. It’s perfect for me—not too flowery or heavy, and fresh but really unique. I am constantly getting sniffed whenever I wear it.” Fragile Violet, 9 fl. oz. for $495, Beverly Grove
