NBA 2K is being brought to life and you don’t even have to be a professional basketball player to participate.
From Dec. 11 to 12 in downtown Los Angeles, basketball fans can immerse themselves in the NBA 2K22 pop-up just steps away from the House Kobe Built (which is still, at the moment, Staples Center. The name change to Crypto.Com Arena doesn’t happen until Christmas Day). It will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
The American Express x NBA 2K22 Experience is totally free for fans to enjoy. What’s more, the weekend-long event includes free NBA 2K digital merchandise, which will be distributed through unique NBA 2K22 locker codes for Amex Card Members (available on-site only). The merchandise includes some of the most sought-after digital items for their NBA 2K MyPlayer, such as gear from Just Don, OVO, Mitchell & Ness and Under Armour, among others.
Aside from digital merchandise, the pop-up will have a face scan studio that will allow fans to upgrade their MyPlayer by taking high-quality face scans, which can then be uploaded through the 2K app to be used in the game. You’ll also have exclusive access to exclusive NBA gear for purchase and complimentary sneaker cleanings. Looking for something more immersive? You’ll definitely want to hit up the Infinity Cube: a wall-to-wall mirrored experience engulfed in sights and sounds from NBA 2K22. It’ll make for the perfect Instagram moment.
For those who cannot make it downtown (or just really want to be part of the whole NBA 2K22 experience), the pop-up is set to livestream a highly-anticipated match-up between pro basketball stars Paul George and Breanna Stewart. Hosted by Alexis Morgan, you can catch the game on the NBA’s Twitch channel from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. PT on Dec. 10.
This pop-up builds off Amex’s 2K benefit that was first introduced in September. Along with the previously mentioned highlights, card members who purchase NBA 2K22 at the 2K Store with their Amex Card will receive a bonus 35,000 in virtual currency that can be spent on in-game purchases.
