Art-full Affair

| September 3, 2013 | Parties

THE PARTY A buoyant mix of Hollywood stars and art-scene aficionados, including Jonah Hill, Molly Shannon, Lisa Edelstein, Alex Israel and Andrea Bowers, gathered to support LAXART, a cutting-edge nonprofit art space on La Cienega. THE SCENE The glamorous garden party (the gallery’s fourth annual celebration) flourished at the Brentwood home of contemporary art collectors Gail and Stanley Hollander. Luxury resale retailer The RealReal turned out to collect an array of guest-donated couture garments to be sold on behalf of the affair’s beneficiary, while partygoers playfully engaged in a game of tug-of-war with a rope sculpture by artist Shana Lutker and bid on silent auction items—all to the tunes of DJ Eamon Ore-Giron. Funds from the alfresco afternoon will help produce exhibitions and support commissions from local artists. THE HIGHLIGHTS On the auction block were artist-adorned skateboards from the likes of Kelly Barrie, Sherin Guirguis and Greg Lynn. The most buzzed-about board on offer—valued at a whopping $60,000—was a chrysoprase-, labradorite- and turquoise-encrusted design by Irene Neuwirth that went to an anonymous bidder. Here’s to riding in style. Photography by Stefanie Keenan/WireImage
