The biggest drinking night of the year is in fact on a Wednesday. Sometimes referred to as Drinksgiving or Blackout Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving inspires many to hit the local watering hole for a fun night before getting through—or should we say celebrate— the November holiday. So grab your childhood pals that are finally in town and call a Lyft for a night of merriment and cocktails. Here are the best places to go out the night before Thanksgiving.
If you decided to do some pre-Black Friday shopping at the Beverly Center, might as well just walk over to The Roger Room. Ease your hands and shoulders from carrying loads of future Christmas presents by settling into this eclectic spot with one of their trendy cocktails.
For a sizable margarita, hit El Tejano in the Valley. The crowd is always lively and the music is always on point by nightfall, and you can even order delectable carne asada tater tots for the table. The large outdoor patio makes it the ideal meeting spot for large, reuniting groups of friends.
Quite literally a hole in the wall, the narrow Frolic Room sits right next to the Pantages Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard. It’s a no-frills kind of place where you definitely just come for what could possibly be the most affordable drink in town. Famous for its jukebox, it features movie stars all across its walls.

I’ve always imagined Homer Simpson would be a fan of this NoHo hangout. Shaped like a barrel, Idle Hour is a Valley favorite for its mixology-focused cocktail lounge and curated selection of beers. They also have a cozy back patio with a fireplace and illuminated tree.
Looking for saloon vibes? Head downtown. Set in a former bank vault, Crane’s specialized atmosphere is ideal for friends looking for an intimate, but fun spot before trekking back to their childhood homes for the rest of the weekend.
Formerly a Firestone auto shop, this La Brea bar brings friends together around great cocktails and some skee ball. The vast, indoor-outdoor layout makes All Seasons Brewing a perfect meet-up for friends just popping by or gathering for the whole night. What’s more, they make their own ginger beer and crushable beers.
For Eastside dwellers, you’ll want to gather at Bar Flores for their Margarita Wednesdays for a night of margs, music and entertainment. Overlooking Sunset Boulevard, Angelenos flock to this Echo Park hangout for its lovely backyard patio, vibrant cocktails and welcoming atmosphere.
Another Miracle Mile favorite, this festive tavern offers a host of tap beers and craft cocktails for ale and spirits connoisseurs alike. Known for its jukebox and darts, Little Bar is a great meetup for friends looking for a fun, but casual place for a night of libations.
