Belle of the Ball

| July 23, 2012 | Parties National

THE PARTY Several generations of Hollywood heavyweights turned out to fĂȘte the Pink Palace’s centennial weekend and attend a birthday dinner held in its honor. THE PLAYERS Jeffrey Katzenberg, Warren Beatty, Ed Mady, Brett Ratner, Mena Suvari, Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, Prince, Diane Warren THE HIGHLIGHTS Countless A-listers have called the iconic property home over the past century, and many came to toast the hotel’s storied history. A photo exhibition with images shot by legendary lensmen such as Julius Shulman and Anthony Friedkin headlined the event, as did a Lauren Bacall-narrated short film featuring tales from the likes of Clive Davis, Jimmy Fallon and the hotel’s official historian (and great-grandson of the original owner), Robert S. Anderson. Following cocktails and dinner—the menu included Polo Lounge classics like tortilla soup and McCarthy salad—nine-time Grammy Award winner Mary J. Blige took to the stage in the Crystal Ballroom, serenading the star-studded crowd with a five-song set. Photos Courtsey of Getty Images
