It’s simple. Los Angeles is a food mecca, and among its greatest delicacies is the burrito. You can go classic with carne asada, kick off your day with a breakfast burrito or enjoy something with a twist, like a sushi burrito. As Angelenos, we are blessed with two things: good weather and endless opportunities to indulge in glorious, tortilla-wrapped savory goodness.
And at Angeleno, we are grateful for the knowledge of Lindsey Baruch, who you might know as Lindsey Eats. The Los Angeles-based food photographer, content creator, videographer and recipe developer has amassed a following for sharing with the world her culinary talent. Just take a scroll through her Instagram and you’ll find example after example of her mouthwatering recipes that find influence in her family upbringing, restaurant favorites and, of course, Los Angeles.
Her secret to a great burrito? It’s a two-parter.
“For me, the key to a great burrito is that it's filled with enough ingredients, but not too many where it's too powerful to tell the ingredients apart,” Baruch explains. “I like a burrito with a sauce/salsa involved, but not too much to where it gets soggy or overpowers the other ingredients. I'll normally get a side of sauce if I choose to dip even more, separately!
Additionally, the wrap! It needs to be well wrapped so it can be properly eaten and all the components stay together where the wrap doesn't all fall apart.
Lastly, that all the ingredients are evenly distributed and I'm not just getting one big bite of meat, or one big bite of hashbrowns— I like to have every ingredient in each bite as best as I can.”
On our search for the city’s greatest burritos, Baruch kindly lent her expertise and let us in on her favorite spots.

The Rico Suave from The Rooster is one of my go-to crave-worthy breakfast burritos. Located in the Pico-Robertson area (previously a food truck around L.A.), the burrito boasts crispy tater tots, avocado, eggs, bacon, cheddar AND cotija cheese. Tossed in a flour tortilla with cilantro crema, served alongside Molcajete Salsa. What my morning dreams are made of!

I've been going to Salsa + Beer since college — and it's a place I constantly crave (and go to!). They have a huge salsa bar, crispy tortilla chips as an appetizer dipped in the most amazing creamy, cheesy bean dip. It's epic!
For burritos: They boast so many different kinds of burritos, so you can get whatever you personally prefer. I'll get either the California Burrito or the Asada Burrito, which is filled with steak, beans, onions, cilantro and cheese and is topped with ranchero sauce.
It comes in a huge platter with the burrito, cheesy beans, Mexican rice, sour cream and more! Their fajitas are also not to be missed. (P.S don't forget to put some of the bean dip and all their salsa varieties on your burrito for extra sauciness!)

You cannot go wrong with Burritos La Palma. Homemade Zacatecas-style tortillas, enough said! I crave this spot, always!
My staples here are the Birria (birria de res) spiced, shredded (SO tender) beef burrito, and don't skip on the Chiccharron (stewed pork rind) burrito as well. If you want a vegetarian option, the Frijoles Y Queso (refried beans and cheese) is also a great move.

Sonoratown is also a fantastic burrito spot (homemade tortillas as well!) from Sonora, Mexico. This spot is definitely an essential L.A. taco/burrito spot in my book.
My go-to is their burrito 2.0, which is filled with your choice of meat (I like the grilled steak or chicken), chunky guacamole, monterey jack cheese, pinto beans and Chiltepin salsa. It is heaven in a bite!

This is my late night spot. The al pastor tacos here are fantastic, as well as their meat-filled burritos. I'll get the carne asada or the al pastor combination burrito! (Get a couple tacos for the road as well!) It's filled with your choice of meat, rice, beans, onions, cilantro and salsa. You can also opt for an all meat burrito which removes the rice and beans.

This Indian-style burrito is FILLED with so much flavor and this spot is also one of my go-to's.
I always get the Chicken Tikka Masala Burrito (I also always get their Saag Paneer). The burrito is wrapped in super soft and fluffy Naan. It's filled with potatoes, cucumbers, tomatoes, pickled red onions, mint chutney, raita, mint crema and a tamarind drizzle— quite literally the perfect bite!
