Changes at downtown L.A.’s premier arena have caused quite the buzz, but it really should all be due to Hideaway. The VIP multi-million dollar luxury suite recently opened inside Crypto.com Arena, bringing its lucky guests a next-level hospitality experience and panoramic views of the Lakers throwing down or your favorite pop star taking the stage— whatever happens to be going on that night.
As the most expensive custom suite ever built (courtesy of Barrett Building Co. and Anthony W. Design), Hideaway sprawls across 660 square feet of what used to be two regular suites. It provides unobstructed views and features custom Gucci wallpaper, a fireplace, a DJ booth, a claw machine, the Zoltar fortune teller game and a state of the art sound system. To get the inside scoop on the arena’s invitation-only suite, Angeleno caught up with entertainment and hospitality entrepreneur who conceptualized the experience, suite owner Matt Ampolsky.
At their core, suites offer guests a luxury experience. What was it like developing a space that redefines and heightens that and how long was the entire process from concept to debut?
We have been thinking of the concept for years, but it took about two years to bring to fruition. The goal has always been to create a completely unprecedented suite experience and it’s great to see that we have accomplished just that. While it was a massive project and undertaking, it’s been rewarding to watch guests and patrons come through the suite with looks of total shock and awe on their faces. We are very proud of what we’ve built here, and this is just the beginning.
How does the wallpaper fit into the overall aesthetic— Why Gucci?
The suite experience has always been synonymous with luxury. The Gucci wallpaper is a perfect example of taking tradition to a new, modern level.
Out of all the classic arcade games to include, why Zoltar and a claw machine?
While Hideaway is a luxury suite, it’s also a place to have fun. Bringing those whimsical, almost child-like touches to the suite is a way of reminding guests to play. Guests aren’t invited to watch an event at a high-end suite, they are invited to Hideaway, a place to have fun.

We had a night recently where we invited renowned mentalist Simon Winthrop to perform during halftime in the suite. Guests were completely surprised and blown away to watch a performance within this suite that’s an experience of itself.
You’ve been working in the world of sports and entertainment for over a decade. How is Hideaway unlike anything you’ve conceptualized or witnessed?
Most luxury suites are identical rooms where you can order custom food and drink while watching the event. Over time, they all feel the same. Hideaway is designed to feel different. Whether it’s the in-suite performance or the entertainment features and games in the suite, our goal is to make your experience at Hideaway feel different every time so that it’s unforgettable.
Why is the newly rebranded Crypto.com Arena the perfect place for Hideaway?
The arena has been around for a long time and has hosted some of the most incredible concerts and sporting events in the world. It felt natural to include Hideaway at such a historical arena.
