Far from the craze of the Cabo crowds, a pristine new resort town has emerged on the East Cape of the Mexican coast, boasting an Aman and a Four Seasons, as well as some of the most tempting private homes on Baja Peninsula Sur.
The Four Seasons Beach Club Casita is two levels with a private pool and views of the fresh water estuary.
Through serene desert and arid landscapes, the sparkling Sea of Cortez emerges like a glittering oasis against the backdrop of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Cradled by 1,000 acres on the East Cape of the Baja Peninsula Sur, private beachfront community Costa Palmas surrounds a stretch of swimmable beach—a rarity in Los Cabos—with organic farms and waterfalls scattered nearby.
It was quite the endeavor transforming this lush landscape into a world-class resort destination, which opens any day now. Within the development is the Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas; Aman’s Amanvari resort and residences; plus an array of private residences, an international marina, a Robert Trent Jones II-designed 18-hole golf course and—at the heart—the Costa Palmas Beach & Yacht Club. “We created Costa Palmas for families and groups of friends who appreciate a fresh and mindful approach to design and lifestyle,” says owner/founder Jason Grosfeld of Irongate, which is spearheading the development. “The club and resort are places for those of all ages who seek both a spirited adventure and impeccable service,” he adds.
The casita overlooks the Robert Trent Jones II golf course and the Sea of Cortez.
The 145-key Four Seasons, which has myriad pools, a full-service spa and five dining outlets, will connect to the Costa Palmas 250-slip deep-water marina and marina village, which houses shops, dining and entertainment. Oceanfront, marinaside and golfside Four Seasons Private Residences (from $2.25 million) and Private Villas (from $3.75 million) are available for those seeking to make vacation mode more permanent. Picture suites with minimalist, sleek modern design; turquoise ocean views from every room; private plunge pools; and a nod to seamless indoor-outdoor living, with some rooms opening right onto the beach.
The spacious great room is perfect for entertaining family and friends.
Amanvari, slated to open in 2020, nods to the Sanskrit-derived words for “peace” and “water.” The serene setting offers both the resort and residences, as well as three restaurants, a full-service spa with yoga and Pilates studios, a sports center, and a 30-meter infinity pool with four hot tubs. The 24 private residences, ranging from four to seven bedrooms, showcase panoramic views, and residents will enjoy access to the Costa Palmas Beach & Yacht Club, The Farm and the golf course. While it has similar indoor-outdoor vibes to the Four Seasons, Amanvari is more lush desert and farmland-focused in design—offering a different design POV.
For those in search of a sanctuary removed from the bustle of busy tourist enclaves, Costa Palmas reclaims its natural beauty and relishes in the new guard of Mexican resorts.
