THE PARTY A VIP host committee dinner poolside at The Backyard at W Hotel Westwood kicked off the evening, followed by live performances held a block away at the Geffen Playhouse THE PLAYERS Host Jane Lynch; honorees Jim Gianopulos and Carol Burnett; Frank G. Mancuso, Andy Garcia, Annette Bening, Warren Beatty, Helen Mirren THE HIGHLIGHTS Lynch introduced the star-studded lineup by reflecting on the late Gil Cates, the theatre’s former director. “If you knew Gil,” she said, “you would know that he wanted this show to go on!” And so it did—from Mirren’s stories on mid-show nervous breakdowns to Delany’s recollection of onstage nudity, the candid banter kept the crowd roaring. Garcia spoke of his first encounter with Sean Connery and then joined jazz master Arturo Sandoval on the bongo for a lively performance.
