Once upon a time, three founders (Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Desmond Knox-Leet and Yves Coueslant) earned a fashionable following for their eclectic, art nouveau-inspired upholstery patterns.
Diptyque’s travel-inspired Boscage wallpaper is paired over Basile, an archival pattern famously used to cover one of the sofas of the French Palais de l’Élysée.
Fast-forward 60 years, and their still very en vogue brand Diptyque is now paying homage with its first collection of 10 wallpaper designs pulled from the archives—many of which are in the collections of Paris’ Museum of Decorative Arts. In a magical mashup of modern technology meets the house’s historic heritage, a digital printing technique on nonwoven wallpaper results in today’s sustainable offering. The patterned wallpaper is available in regular panels (32.8 feet by 1.97 feet); panoramic decor sized (5.9 feet by 9.19 feet and 11.8 feet by 9.19 feet); and Frieze, a wallpaper reminiscent of the wainscoting commonly found in Parisian apartments, available in 18.4-by-3.28-foot panels). Prints charming, indeed.
