“My big aim is to try to get people who haven’t cooked before into the kitchen,” explains cookbook author and TV personality Donal Skehan, who recently moved from Ireland to Los Angeles to release his first U.S. tome, Fresh ($24.95, Sterling Epicure, Barnes & Noble, The Grove). “This cookbook is all about eating and cooking the sort of food you need for a healthy lifestyle. We are all looking to eat better, but not having the knowledge to do so becomes the tricky part,” says Skehan. “I am giving people the right tools, ingredients and opportunity to make solid food choices.” Here, the L.A. transplant lets us in on his favorite haunts in town.

SEE ART “A visit to LACMA (Mid-Wilshire) is a must. It’s a popular tourist destination, but there are plenty of unique concerts and shows throughout the year to check out.”
