Interview
1 How did you break into the industry?
I’ve always been interested in pop culture and entertainment from a very young age. I actually started in musical theater as a performer, and began photography at age 14. I don’t think it was one specific moment, but many opportunities to get to where I am today. I interned at Entertainment Tonight during college and worked for Dick Clark Productions early on, which taught so much, and how this industry really works.
2 What are the keys to your success?
One of the biggest things for me is networking, you never know who you’re going to meet that could ultimately change your life. I naturally love talking to people, hearing their stories, and having authentic conversations. It’s important to stick with your passions, keep going, if you get knocked down, get back up and brush it off. This is a tough industry and having good people around you is a major key.
3 What advice would you give to someone wanting to be in the industry?
Find something you love to do, because when it becomes “work,” you’ll enjoy what you do everyday. Practice your craft, get out of your comfort zone and go for it! Be professional, dress up, and be the best version of yourself.
4 What inspires you?
So many things inspire me daily. It could be a song, a film, or someone that catches my eye and ends up becoming a muse of mine. I think it’s important as a creative person to stay in-between a world of reality and fantasy.
5 What are some stand out photoshoots for you?
I loved photographing my friend and actress Madelyn Cline from “Outer Banks,” we shot during the super bloom for Seventeen Magazine. We basically had what looked like a movie set with thousands of poppies, it was a moment for sure. I also shoot regularly with Scout Taylor-Compton, who has been a friend and great creative counterpart. Also, I love the energy and how fun photographing red carpets are, there is never a dull moment!
6 What’s next for you?
I recently shot the cover for Modern Luxury Palm Springs with Taryn Manning. I have exciting red carpet events lined up for award season, and continuing to shoot for Modern Luxury and my other clients. I love to sprinkle in creative projects, with actors, models and fellow content creators to keep me on my toes.
