The Party

Jeanne and Anthony Pritzker opened their expansive Beverly Hills home for the second annual Evening of Environmental Excellence. Former Vice President Al Gore and Lyn Lear of the Environmental Media Association (EMA) were both honored at the benefit for UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability (IoES).

The Players

Laurie David, Lawrence Bender, Sydney Holland, Alexandria Jackson, Tina Quinn, Zach Braff, Jon Christensen, Stephanie Pincetl

The Highlights

After thanking Amy Smart and Carter Oosterhouse, who served as masters of ceremony, Lear reminded the audience that Gore headlined an EMA event in Santa Monica back in 1989, when he was still a senator. The former vice president himself took the podium after a set by Jason Mraz, and Gore ended his rousing speech with this call to action as the audience stood to applaud him: “Who are we? Those who destroy their own planet? I refuse to believe it; I refuse to accept it. Let’s get it done.”
