A Japanese-inspired modern farmhouse, named Ōnin, located in Encino and has officially hit the market for $26 million.
The property is located in Royal Oaks, the prestigious San Fernando Valley gated community, and is the most expensive property in the neighborhood. The home itself was designed by Jae Omar, the same genius behind the Encino home sold by celebrity favorite couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner.
As a designer dedicated to developing unique and creative spaces, Omar looked to Japan's mid-1400s Ōnin Era. The period was well-known for being a time when society came together to create dramatic change.
“The conclusion of such a somber era within Japan allowed for great forms of expression to spring forth, including some of the most identifiable pieces of Japanese art, teachings, poetry, and architecture,” Omar said.
The impressive home includes 8 bedrooms, 9 baths and is located on 1.3 acres of land. When you walk through the front doors, you enter through the "Butterfly Pavilion," which is named after the gorgeous, butterflied marble slabs. It creates a jaw-dropping first impression that prepares you for the beauty of the rest of the home. As you venture further inside, you begin to notice the subtle Japanese inspired elements throughout, like the wide plank oak floors. The space itself has a welcoming open layout that allows for everyone to stay connected, no matter where they are in the house, making it a truly great the space for hosting.
Personally, my favorite part of the house is the 65-foot infinity pool with a waterfall feature. It is truly a perfect pool for a relaxing dip or an outrageous pool party. However, the amenities don’t stop there. Ōnin also has a resort-style spa, bocce ball, tennis and basketball courts, a gym, dual three-car garages and a state-of-the-art theater. In the backyard there is also a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom guest house that is ideal for any in-laws that might visit.
Despite the house giving a relaxing feel, sometimes you need a little more privacy. Thankfully, the main suites in the home are the perfect oasis for anyone feeling overwhelmed. The rooms themselves are complete with fire and water features and are unsurprisingly perfectly designed and decorated.
