THE PARTY The red carpet rolled out at the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the 27th annual GLAAD Awards, a celebration of positive LGBTQ roles in film, television and music. Coveted silver statuettes went to Queen Latifah for Bessie, and Caitlyn Jenner and Jazz Jennings for their respective reality shows I Am Cait and I Am Jazz, while actress Ruby Rose took home the esteemed Stephen F. Kolzak Award, and Demi Lovato received the Vanguard Award. THE SCENE Celebrities roamed free at the equality-infused fete, from Nick Jonas, who presented Lovato with top honors, to Taylor Swift, who surprised Rose as the presenter of the Stephen F. Kolzak Award. In between host Ross Mathews’ hilarious monologues, Kat Graham, Patricia Arquette and Lea Michele served as spirited presenters. THE HIGHLIGHTS During an enthusiastic live auction, Lovato helped to up-bid a luxurious seven-night stay at Waldorf Astoria Beijing. With neither Lovato nor her counter bidder letting up, the GLAAD powers-that-be offered two packages at the final hammer price of $79,000.
