Get ready to grab your laptop and head to Esters Wine Shop & Bar for a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine) while you’re cleaning out your inbox or hammering away at the next great screenplay. The Santa Monica outpost just opened back up again for daytime service on a daily basis, offering Angelenos another spot for a delicious local lunch and afternoon cocktail.
Available from noon to 4 p.m, the daytime menu features standard wine bar offerings like charcuterie plates and an array of snacks like olives, nuts and bread, in addition to sandwiches, soups and salads. Order from their extensive wine and beer selection or choose a brunch classic, like a mimosa or Bloody Mary. Come late afternoon, Esters transitions to their nighttime menu, with daily happy hour running 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The resumption of daytime service also signals a slate of all-new dishes from chef Benjamin Jones and team. Alongside their renowned grilled cheese, diners can consider the vegan curried butternut squash soup, seasonal frittata, a classic Jambon Beurre, a vegetarian mushroom tartine with broccoli pesto and goat cheese and a warm Grana Padano meatball sandwich. We’re particularly excited about the Esters Happy Lunch option, which includes the chef’s choice of two cheeses, two charcuterie, a side salad and a glass of wine for $30. Truly ideal for any day of the week, we think it sounds like the perfect meal to celebrate the coming weekend on a late Friday afternoon.

Esters’ is a primary favorite of Santa Monica, but if you have yet to try, know you will be in for a top-notch experience elevated by its hyper-seasonal California-inspired menu of French bistro classics and eclectic wine list.
However, if you’re looking to bring the party back to your house— and by party, we mean a stellar cheese and charcuterie spread— you can still order takeout. Even their Sunday Tastings are available to-go, which allows connoisseurs to explore Esters’ extensive wine selection right from home.
