With its effortlessly chic blend of breezy wardrobe staples and feminine frocks, French favorite Sézane has been a longtime go-to for stylish women in the know. Now, following a successful pop-up at Platform, the Parisian brand has landed a year-long residency at the Brentwood Country Mart. “The [boutique is the] perfect mix between L.A.’s laid-back style, the Mart’s iconic farmhouse style and Sézane’s French roots,” says founder Morgane Sézalory. Featuring Sézane’s seasonal RTW collection, year-round classics, shoes, bags and more, the store will also carry exclusive styles before they drop online. “[Shoppers] will be able to discover our newest pieces, including some of our iconic styles released in brand-new colors and fabrics, alongside our expanding accessories collection that will launch in September,” Sézalory shares. “The fall collection is my favorite season to design, and this year it includes a brand-new silhouette, our new trench coat Clyde. The store will be constantly changing and will be filled with new pieces week after week, so there is always a reason to stop by.” sezane.com

Fashion and art unite at Givenchy’s new boutique on Rodeo Drive, where sculptures made in collaboration with British artist Ewan MacFarlane mingle with ready-to-wear and accessories for men and women, and exclusive capsule collections. Bedecked with mirrors and a 4G sculpture hanging from overhead, the heritage French brand’s first Los Angeles store—a temporary destination until a permanent location opens next year—debuted with sharply tailored pieces, worked denim and modern eveningwear from the Fall 2023 collection by creative director Matthew M. Williams. Also, an assortment of the House’s accessories, focusing on the new Voyou statement bag, are highlighted. “Opening on Rodeo Drive marks an important milestone for Givenchy as we continue to scale our business both in the U.S. and internationally,” says CEO Renaud de Lesquen. “At this temporary boutique, the spirit of Parisian chic meets California style... a story that will continue to unfold in the years ahead, notably with the opening in 2024 of a permanent store on this legendary shopping artery.” givenchy.com
Joanna Vargas’ airy 5,000-square-foot standalone salon recently opened in West Hollywood BY TYLER ARYAI
After running a successful spa at Sunset Tower for years, New York-based celebrity facialist Joanna Vargas has opened her own stand-alone salon right down the street in West Hollywood. Consisting of 10 treatment rooms for face and body services, the bright and airy 5,000 square foot studio marks a period of growth for Vargas—who will open in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn soon—and introduces the Triple Crown Royale facial. “I’ve brought in new microcurrent technology for my classic Triple Crown facial to make the results better than ever for my clients while adding a new extended version of the Triple Crown, so people can experience something even more special when they visit,” Vargas shares. With so many skincare spots in L.A., Vargas and her salon stand out for more than her impressive clientele (Greta Gerwig, Sofia Coppola, Keri Russell, Ariana DeBose and more). “[It’s] in the perfect location with the perfect parking,” she says. “I also think my focus on making every client happy in their skin has made my salons popular since I began 17 years ago.” joannavargas.com

Sofia Vergara is a woman of many talents. In addition to being an award-winning actress, Vergara, who stars in Netflix’s upcoming miniseries Griselda, recently launched toty, her suncare-focused makeup line, after many years in development. “I decided to focus on suncare because it is the best thing anyone can do to prevent premature aging, but I also love makeup, so it was important for me to combine both: makeup and SPF,” she says. Launching with the Illuma CC Cream, Illuma CC Creamy Compact, Solaria Mineral Sunscreen and a daily supplement, toty is both luxurious and functional. “I wanted serious and effective protection, so I made sure all of our products had SPF 50+. But I wasn’t going to compromise on the makeup aspect of the products, so both Ilumina products have beautiful finishes.” Vergara is keeping mum on toty’s newest launches but hints at what’s to come. “We do have some exciting new products in the works and there’s so much I still want to create—the neck and chest are areas that I wish I had protected sooner,” she says. “You’ll just have to wait and see!” toty.com

Responsible for keeping faces like Kate Beckinsale’s looking fresh and glowy, Kát Rudu recently set up shop within Juan Juan Salon in Brentwood. “I wanted my space to feel and look very minimalist, imagine an intimate art gallery,” shares Rudu, who offers treatments like the Jet Set facial in the petite space. Newer offerings and products include a vegan stem cell treatment with LED light therapy, an aloe vera brightening service, a medical grade retinol cream and Sea of Love, a unisex product line Rudu created with her partner James Vidal. “When I began my career, I started in a tiny box, and I was creating flawless, transformative glowing complexions as I still do today,” she says. “My passion begins with wanting my clients to leave feeling empowered, youthful and more confident when they leave than when they entered my door.” katrudu.com

With all the new fragrance boutiques opening in L.A., there’s no excuse not always to smell delightful. First up, following openings at Palisades Village and in Silver Lake, cult-favorite beauty brand Byredo (byredo.com) continues its expansion with its fourth standalone boutique in L.A. at The Grove. Expect to find the full range of the brand’s perfume (including popular scents Mojave Ghost and Bal D’Afrique), home fragrances, body care and excellent makeup at the peaceful, minimalist shop. Head slightly west to Beverly Hills to discover Parfums de Marly’s (us.parfums-de-marly.com) first California boutique, a gorgeous chateau-inspired space filled with the Parisian brand’s luxurious scents. The store’s elegant design reflects Château de Marly—a royal residence built for the Sun King in 1679 that was famed for its parties and illustrious guests—and serves as the perfect setting for its unforgettable scents, including Delina, a Turkish rose, lily, and lychee fragrance, and Valaya, with notes of musky wood, bergamot, mandarin and sweet white peach. Lastly, beloved Brooklyn brand D.S. & Durga (dsanddurga.com) recently landed on Abbott Kinney in Venice. A collaboration between founding couple David and Kavi Moltz, the line bursts with imaginative, evocative scents like Steamed Rainbow and 40 Million Year Old Amber. Look out for L.A. exclusives at the shop, including the Pacific Mythic candle and a private reserve room toward the back.
