“The way The Georgian now leans into its own past is going to set it apart from anything else in Santa Monica,” says Fettle director and co-founder Tom Parker, who led the interior design transformation of the recently opened 1930s hotel. Stunningly restored by Fettle and BLVD Hospitality, the 84-room Ocean Avenue property—originally built by renowned California hotelier Rosamond Borde—offers an elevated, intimate, art deco-drenched dining and entertainment experience for both visitors and locals. “We wanted to make the building feel as treasured and glamorous as it was during its 1930s heyday by highlighting some of the original architectural details, using pattern and color to give the spaces a sense of history,” Parker adds. In addition to the design, the hotel’s two restaurants are a major draw. The Restaurant at The Georgian serves coastal Italian cuisine by Mozza alum executive chef David Almany; and the subterranean Georgian Room is a historic dinner-only restaurant that reopened for the first time in more than 50 years. “Chef David has built a menu that explores the intersection of timeless culinary classics with Italian cuisine, reaching from the rich heritage of the Italian North to emblematic dishes of Puglia as well as the fragrant and almost embarrassingly romantic citrus and ocean saline flavors of the Amalfi Coast,” says BLVD Hospitality founder and CEO Jon Blanchard, who also highlights the hotel’s programming. “The hotel is deeply involved with the local community and its heritage is boldly embraced through close relationships with the Santa Monica History Museum and the Santa Monica Conservancy, among others, which will pave the way for new cultural collaborations within the property’s Gallery 33 space,” he says. “Santa Monica’s first lady is ready for the next chapter.” thegeorgian.com
