Gucci, Leonardo DiCaprio and Eva Chow sure know how to throw a grand party.
On Nov. 2, the Italian maison presented the 13th annual LACMA Art + Film Gala alongside gala co-chairs DiCaprio and Chow. The evening honored filmmaker Baz Luhrmann and artist Simone Leigh, whose traveling exhibition is on view at LACMA and the California African American Museum through Jan. 20, 2025.
Simone Leigh is the first comprehensive showcasing of Leigh’s practices and encompasses pieces from her 2022 Venice Biennale project, works created just for the L.A. presentation and more.
Additionally, Gucci debuted the second eveningwear collection by creative director Sabato De Sarno. At the event, friends of the house donned pieces from Gucci Notte, which were inspired by the timeless allure of Hollywood.
Such Tinsel Town enchantment was on display across the evening. From the starry guest list to luxury dining and an exclusive performance, the 2024 edition of the LACMA Art + Film Gala proved its reputation as one of the most glamorous nights of the year in Los Angeles.
Welcoming the likes of Blake Lively, Andrew Garfield, Kim Kardashian, Dev Patel, Viola Davis, Nicholas Hoult, Sarah Paulson and more, attendees were treated to a special dinner by chef David Shim of Simon Kim's Cote, New York, the first Michelin-starred Korean steakhouse in the U.S. Beverages came courtesy of Justin Vineyards & Winery, Khee Premium Soju, Diageo, Fiji Water and Pom Wonderful.
Later, the assemblage of celebrities and Los Angeles elite got to enjoy a snippet of one of the hottest tickets of the year: the Sweat Tour. Dinner capped with a Brat-inspired performance by Charli XCX and Troye Sivan.
But the LACMA Art + Film Gala was more than a night of fun. A true commemoration of creativity and art, proceeds from the event go toward underwriting LACMA’s initiative to make film more central to the museum’s curatorial programming and its broader mission to showcase exhibitions, acquisitions and educational programming that explore the intersection of art and film.
