THE PARTY Honoring UCLA professor and artist Lari Pittman as well as The Simpsons creator Matt Groening, the annual gala held in the museum’s courtyard raised more than $1.7 million for Hammer’s world-renowned exhibitions and public programs. THE PLAYERS Hammer Director Ann Philbin; art stars Ed Ruscha, Mark Bradford, Jennifer Steinkamp, Doug Aitken, Barbara Kruger, Jorge Pardo, Frank Gehry; collectors Rosette Delug, Susan and Leonard Nimoy, Eugenio Lopez, Maria and Bill Bell; Hollywood and fashion luminaries Darren Star, Neil Patrick Harris, Monique Lhuillier, Jack Black, Will Ferrell, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Lisa Cholodenko THE HIGHLIGHTS A comedic video tribute to Groening featuring Conan O’Brien and Yeardley Smith (who voices Lisa Simpson) kicked off the night with roaring laughter among the 600-plus guests, all seated beneath an installation of lanterns by MacArthur award-winning artist Pardo.
