THE PARTY ’Twas the night before the Golden Globes, and the stars descended in full force upon The Art of Elysium’s ninth annual Heaven Gala, including power couple Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, James Franco, and Christina Hendricks (swathed in Vivienne Westwood). THE SCENE Under the creative direction of Dame Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler, Heaven took the form of a black-tie party in two parts. First came cocktails during a mesmerizing reveal of an art installation by New York-based art director Andrew Ondrejcak comprising fluorescent lights formed into the word “Heaven” and a live performance by Brit belting punk band Wild Daughter. Part two came when guests transitioned into the space for dinner amid a post-apocalyptic rain-forest setting, which later proved the perfect backdrop for a performance by Detroit soprano Shara Worden alongside Westwood-wearing ballerinas. THE HIGHLIGHTS Spirit of Elysium award-winners Finola Hughes and Russell Young shined bright among a bevy of luminaries, including The Art of Elysium founder Jennifer Howell and young Hollywood hot shot Kelly Osbourne, who shared the stage with Justin Bartha to rouse donations. Later, fount of talent Franco sounded off about his long involvement with The Art of Elysium, which fosters social change through creativity. –Photos by Charley Gallay, Michael Kovac, Jason Merritt and Donato Sardella/Getty Images
