Last Thursday, Hermès brought their iconic maison collection to life in L.A. through an immersive ballet, turning the entire venue into an opulent dance floor. For the occasion, celebrities and socialites—including Jasmine Tookes, Casey Affleck and John C. Reilly, among others—gathered inside Santa Monica’s The Barker Hanger, an ample atmosphere for the immensity of the show.

Imagined by Hermès, directed by choreographer Philippe Decouflé and curated by Charlotte Macaux Perelman and Alexis Fabry, the team assembled 56 “movers”—a beau monde group of dancers dressed in blue coveralls—who interacted fluidly with more than 400 homewares, creating a continuous performance that was both eye-catching and revolutionary.

Each piece was concealed from the crowd in a chic wooden crate—some resembling the size of a garage—to allow the mystique to build. The movers then unveiled the collection at different points throughout the evening, which was followed by an accompanying performance immediately after opening.

Throughout the two-hour show, guests wandered around the space, surprised at every turn by a new group of performers and furnishings artfully exhibited under bright lights and pulsing music.
Think stunts tossing dancers into the air holding Hermès-branded pillows, tumblers flipping down the runway, a woman sliding across a dining table suspended above the ground, a chess game with players stacked three performers high and many more moments of strength, poise and finesse.

In constant movement, attendees eventually stopped to watch the finale, a sharp and striking dance routine—the Pony Dance—embodying Hermès’ notable equestrian roots. Guests soon joined in, showing off their own versions of celebration through dance.

An especially unique way to showcase the home collection, Hermès continues to move the needle across all areas of the brand, from Birkins to blankets and everything in between. To view or purchase items from the collection, visit hermes.com.
