As the clock ticks down to midnight, what better place to ring in the New Year than inside the Hotel Figueroa’s hidden party room, Casbah? Tucked inside the newly renovated historic hotel’s Casablanca Suite, the swanky private room holds up to 22 guests and is accessible via a secret passageway opened by a martini-embossed book in the bookcase. Inside Casbah, mirror-covered walls and ceilings create the illusion of infinite space. The Prohibition-inspired room also features sumptuous leather, stone, natural wood and glass accents. Other highlights of the 620-square-foot Casablanca Suite include a living room and fully stocked wet bar. However, guests not booked in at the suite can still party the night away at Casbah by accessing the secret space through the hotel’s speakeasy, Bar Alta, a 26-seat bartender’s table available for private events and offering artisanal spirits, herbal extracts and freshly squeezed juices for custom concoctions.
