A great-grandson of Louis Cartier with decades of experience at brands like Boucheron, Van Cleef & Arpels and more, French-born, L.A.-based jewelry designer Jean Dousset knows the high-end diamond jewelry world inside and out. Now, Dousset has embarked on a new path by opening his eponymous, luxury lab-grown diamond jewelry boutique on La Cienega.

“Lab-grown diamonds offer the opportunity to express myself further as a designer and to be freer,” shares Dousset, who has designed engagement rings for Paris Hilton, Amy Adams and Eva Longoria. “It’s liberating for everybody, not just for me. It gives customers a lot more access to incredible diamonds.”

The blush-hued boutique is adorned with a facet motif throughout and houses the designer’s engagement rings, wedding bands and other pieces that can be worn the day of and beyond. Incredibly clear and sparkling, rings, bracelets, and necklaces appear to be floating on the skin, something Dousset aims for. “I’m mostly trying to eliminate structural elements of rings that typically keep the diamonds together and try to minimize their presence,” he shares. Pieces can also be customized with unique details, like petite gems embedded in the back of a ring.

“Consumers can have everything beautiful, interesting and captivating about diamonds,” says Dousset about his creations, “But without the headaches associated with natural stones.” Brilliant! jeandousset.com
