Influential volunteers from Junior Leagues in four countries convened to discuss the future of civic leadership on a global scale. To commemorate the 90th anniversary of The Junior League of Los Angeles in 2016, nearly 600 Junior League leaders from the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the U.K. gathered at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in mid-April for three days of inspirational speeches, vigorous dialogue and innovative workshops by luminaries in philanthropy, government, business, media and entertainment. Speakers included Geena Davis, First Lady Gayle Wilson and Mallika Chopra.
The women, who partner with social services agencies, nonprofits and municipal officials to fight issues such as human trafficking, food insecurity and illiteracy in nearly 300 communities, were taking part in the 93rd Annual Conference of The Association of Junior Leagues, which guides the legacy of The Junior League, founded in New York in 1901 by the pioneer of social reform, Mary Harriman.
