January in Los Angeles winded down with the debut of a glamorous Moroccan restaurant.
Tucked away inside club-restaurant Members, Kasbah transports diners from bustling Sunset Boulevard into an indoor Raj tent-like space made lush by cozy banquettes, a warm color palette and overhead lanterns.
Like Members, Kasbah is under the ownership of 111 Hospitality. It joins the hospitality group’s portfolio of venues on a mission to invigorate the city with energized, fine-dining spaces. Its debut follows the openings of the Sunset Strip restaurant-club Puzzle and Amour, the sleek West Hollywood Parisian bistro on Beverly Boulevard.
The food program at Kasbah is a collaboration between 111 Hospitality founder Thomas Fuks, Members executive chef Alex Moreno and chef Rachida. Born and raised in Casablanca, Rachida acquired a devoted following for her cooking during the decades spent cooking for friends and family around Los Angeles.
It was in his own home that Fuks discovered her talent. After many years of convincing, Rachida accepted Fuks’ pitch to lead a restaurant kitchen. Her culinary brilliance is exemplified by signature dishes like harissa soup and a tajine that can be made with lamb or chicken.
Diners can expect to enjoy Rachida’s dishes through a traditional Moroccan dining experience. Beginning with an array of mezes, guests then select their choice of entree, such as Moroccan lamb couscous. The meal concludes with a dessert and tea.
“Nightlife in Los Angeles is at an inflection point,” Fuks said. “I have opened both a restaurant and a nightclub in the last year, but Members is a unique intersection of experiences. Our patron is looking for a decadent and transportive experience—from food, to drinks, to entertainment. Now, without ever leaving the premise, our guests can enjoy a stunning yet authentic Moroccan family-style meal in a deeply glamourous setting, then make their way through a maze of halls to dance the night away in the rooms next door.”
Members has also unveiled a new menu by Moreno that features small plates and lighter bites. Reservations are available on OpenTable.
