With her well-known last name and famous family, including daughters Paris and Nicky, Kathy Hilton (@kathyhilton) has always been in the public eye. But an unexpected star turn on the most recent season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has made Hilton a legend in her own right. Besides her quirky sense of humor, the fan favorite is well-known for throwing epic dinner parties, including one that will go down in history as one of her most memorable. “There have been too many wonderful parties to pick just one, however, during this past season… I threw the dinner that came to be known as the ‘dinner from hell,’” she says of the event, where cast members engaged in a highly heated argument. “The name says it all.” Hilton learned the art of the party from her beloved mother, and from working—and living—at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. “While I was there I got to work on many fabulous parties and charity events,” she explains. The L.A. native, who currently resides in Bel-Air, shares that great lighting and grouping the right people together are musts for pulling off a successful event, as is the seating. “I try to mix things up by splitting up couples if I know they don’t mind,” she says. “You can serve pizza, but with interesting people and great ambiance, it will be a guaranteed great night.” Here are Hilton’s essentials for a beautiful holiday fete.
