THE PARTY A multisensory launch of paintings by Shepard Fairey inspired by Americana, a new album of folk songs by Neil Young and Crazy Horse, held at Rubenstein’s just-opened Highland Avenue gallery
THE PLAYERS Ginnifer Goodwin, Joaquin Phoenix, Vera Wang, Vince Vaughn, Amber Sakai, Steve Tisch, Cliff and Mandy Einstein, Jeff Watson, Brian Bell, Matt Bellamy, Moby, John Densmore, Linda Ramone, Joe Manganiello THE HIGHLIGHTS Guests donned looks with a Western sensibility to view canvases that Fairey created using stenciling, collage and his trademark screen printing techniques. The large works marked the second collaboration between Young and Fairey, who previously worked together on packaging for a benefit record. The distinct Laurel Canyon vibe was a perfect complement to the images that depicted American themes such as a mourning Gold Rush lover in the song “Clementine” and a Southern banjo player in the tune “Oh Susannah.” Photos Courtesy of Aleks Kocev/BFAnyc.com
