In 2014, Lake started with a foundational premise for their pajamas: the softest fabric imaginable, a simple silhouette and a classic stripe.
The Atlanta-based company is all about celebrating the most comfortable part of your day. Knowing celebrations call for special moments, Lake has partnered with American design company Schumacher for a limited edition collection.
Based on the idea that great interiors call for great pajamas, the Lake x Schumacher collection elevates Lake’s classic stripe to create beautiful, playful pajamas for the whole family, running sizes XXS to XXL.
“We created LAKE to celebrate all of life’s coziest moments, and frequently draw inspiration from thoughtful interiors that create a similar sense of warmth and comfort,” Lake co-founders Anne Read Lattimore and Cassandra Cannon. “We both share a love for interior design and Schumacher in particular, so we were thrilled to collaborate with their team to bring a timeless yet modern print to life in this unexpected way.”
The Lake x Schumacher collection comes in nine styles for women, including PJ sets, nightgowns and robes, while babies and children are offered four sets. The pieces adhere to Lake’s high softness standards and feature cool, crisp poplin and their staple material, 100% Peruvian pima cotton. Color options include cobalt blue and classic red on the white foundation.
More than just pajamas, the collection serves as a historical design tribute. Schumacher’s featured deconstructed stripe was designed by Miles Redd, the former creative director of Oscar de la Renta Home, as an homage to legendary interior designer Albert Hadley. A renowned decorator for American high society, Hadley was known for distilling classic and contemporary styles.
Ultimately a collage of multidirectional stripes, the various pieces offer a graphic presence that make for the perfect PJ print and embody Hadley’s creative eye.
What’s more, the collaboration with Schumacher felt like a natural progression for Lake. The pajama company wanted a way to highlight their love for interior design and unconventional stripes, so it was a no-brainer to look to the design wisdom of such a storied institution.
The Lake x Schumacher collection is now available and retails for $42 to $136.
