Located in the Hammer Museum, the Westwood restaurant opened last fall for lunch and now welcomes diners for an unfussy, yet refined evening meal.
The dinner menu reflects chef David Tanis’ commitment to showcasing best-of-season ingredients and Lulu’s dedication to sourcing from local regenerative farms. In fact, the menu changes every day based on what’s available from the farmers market and purveyor partners.
Lulu’s a la carte menu range of starter dishes include yellow carrot soup with ginger cream; curly endive salad with bacon, egg and mustard vinaigrette and smoked salmon carpaccio with cherry tomatoes. Entree options include pasta chiocciole with zucchini, squash blossoms, ricotta, basil and parmesan; grilled Baja striped bass with salsa verde and aioli and grass-fed beef tagliata with arugula and parmesan. And for desert, guests can delight in choices like apple rhubarb crumble, seasonal sorbets and chocolate pavé.
Like its savory counterpart, the cocktail menu centers around fresh market produce and offers classic drinks with a twist to highlight in-season fruits. The lineup range includes the Peach and Mint Julep; Gin and Rhubarb Fizz; Lulu Daiquiri featuring San Zanj Haitian Rum; El Picoso with mezcal, muddled navel oranges, jalapeño and chili arbol and Oro Blanco Paloma. Lulu also offers non-alcoholic beverages, such as Lavender Meyer Lemonade, Mulberry Soda and Blood Orange Habañero Agua Fresca.
“A dining experience at Lulu is about opening up the senses,” restaurateur and chef Alice Waters told Angeleno earlier this year. “Lulu will fully engage the senses of everyone who comes to experience this beautiful intersection of art, food and learning.”
Served on the patio inside the Hammer Museum, dinner reservations are available Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m. Hours will expand later this summer.
Lunch at Lulu is available Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. In addition to biodynamic wines, the menu has featured baked Sonoma goat cheese and California halibut carpaccio. It also offers a three-course prix fixe menu.
Lulu is located in the Hammer Museum on 10899 Wilshire Blvd 90024. Walk-in guests are welcome.
