Located on the hilltops of Monterey Park with sweeping views of downtown Los Angeles and the San Gabriel valley is the incomparable dining experience at Luminarias. The Specialty Restaurants eatery recently reopened following a multi-million dollar renovation.
For the first time in 50 years, the restaurant has undergone a complete overhaul, including an extensive interior and exterior remodel and tranformation of the culinary program. Its design is meant to be approachable for everyday dining and special events, while still capturing an elegant essence.
Guests are first welcomed through a luminously lit path accompanied by water accents and koi ponds. As a welcome to this new innovative chapter for the restaurant, original credenzas are refurbished into a concierge desk that flaunts an orginal collection of industrial chandeliers.
Upon entrance, beautiful accents of greenery, wood and stone incorporated into the design can be seen throughout the airy space. The dining room also displays a show stopping view made up of 35-foot floor-to-ceiling windows that open to view an expansive deck for al fresco dining. Its design truly captures an elevated and minimalistic design— fitting to its name, Luminarias.
The dining room is made up of multiple seating options, including large swings and front view of the open windows. The restaurant also features several impressive attributes, such as a raw bar and charcuterie station. In addition, Luminarias’ bar is constructed to include emerald-colored tiles and geometric shelves depicting the best qualities of the restaurant.
As for the menu, it is curated to enjoy an extensive selection of new American dishes with a Latin influence. Guests are encouraged to try the beef birria empanadas with homemade corn masa or its signature dishes, such as seafood pasta and tomahawk ribeye steak with a side of the delectable coconut orzo.
From 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, Luminarias offers a lively and social happy hour featuring special prices for a selection of cocktails that utilize fresh herbs and citrus from the restaurant's very own garden or beer and wine, as well as bites from the dinner menu.
