Lunar New Year takes place on Jan. 29, and to commemorate, Los Angeles has plenty of fun happening in both January and February. Read on for where to eat, drink, dance and more in honor of the Year of the Snake.

The waterfront destination will host Long Beach's official Lunar New Year celebration on Feb. 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. With performances kicking off at 1 p.m., visitors can enjoy interactive activities, vibrant decorations and a specially themed Dreamer’s Market.

The Beverly Center will host a Lunar New Year celebration on Jan. 25 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in benefit of the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. Between shopping and dining, visitors can partake in and watch festivities like lion dances by the East Wind Foundation for Youth, bites and tea services from AB Steak and Steep LA, fashion illustrations, Chinese calligraphy and a DJ set by DJ Lani Love. There will also be a red envelope giveaway for prizes of gift cards ranging from $10 to $500, which will lead to a big reveal at 3 p.m.

Chinatown’s Chinese New Year Festival will kick off at noon on Feb. 8. Then, the Golden Dragon Parade will take place at Central Plaza from 1 to 4 p.m.

Lunar New Year festivities at Crustacean Beverly Hills will run from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2. Its holiday a la carte menu will offer decadent dishes like caviar fried chicken, uni garlic noodles with 24K gold, “The Snake” shortcake and more. For a celebratory night out, make a reservation for Jan. 31, when Crustacean will host its Lunar New Year celebration, complete with a dragon dance performance between 6 and 8 p.m. Then, on Feb. 2, it will hold a Lunar New Year brunch featuring good luck-cultivating dishes, a dragon dance and the An-Sum Cart. At its cocktail lounge, Dahlia, the Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel will have a special afternoon tea menu available for just three weekends. This limited-time menu will include shrimp toast with scallions and lemongrass, spring rolls, Asian chicken salad, smoked salmon with lemon creme fraiche and aleppo and fried purple sticky rice with wagyu beef bacon. On the sweets front, Dahlia will delight with chocolate praline tarts, strawberry blondies, spiced blood orange macarons and pear pomegranate marshmallows. Perhaps most importantly, the service will feature Tealeaves organic jasmine pearl white tea, Imperial Dragonwell black tea, osmanthus oolong and a mocha mousse tea inspired by Pantone’s 2025 color of the year with cocoa, cinnamon, vanilla and dandelion root. This longtime, beloved institution will welcome the Year of the Snake with a celebration on Jan. 27 starting at 6:30 p.m. Alongside extravagant cocktails and plenty of noodles and dumplings, diners will get to enjoy a live dance performance by the East Wind Foundation. The Huntington will hold its family-friendly Lunar New Year Festival on Feb. 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The weekend-long event will feature lion dancers, a mask-changing artist, martial arts demonstrations, contemporary dance, floral arts, music and more. Reservations are required to attend.

Wolfgang Puck’s Asian fusion restaurant will celebrate the Year of the Snake on Jan. 5 from 6 to 11 p.m. The festive evening will feature dragon dancers, a photo booth, live entertainment and a prix fixe family-style menu with dishes like wild mushroom spring rolls, vegetable fried rice, Peking duck, Maine lobster long-life noodles, tomahawk steak and more. The Peninsula Beverly Hills has teamed up with Lunasia Dim Sum House for its Lunar New Year offerings. Through Feb. 2, The Living Room’s converted afternoon tea will have special menu items like an egg custard pastry. Additionally, all dining venues at the hotel have an elevated dim sum experience featuring dishes like supreme beef balls, shrimp har-gow and egg yolk sakura.

Year of the Snake celebrations will happen all February long at South Coast Botanic Garden. Every Saturday and Sunday, visitors can enjoy activities and offerings like art-making, the Zodiac Stroll, storytelling, a 360-degree photo booth, specialty foods and cocktails. Additionally, there will be three live performances over the course of each day featuring lion dancers, martial artists, folk dancers and drummers.
