Home may be where the heart is, but really it should be where all your stress dissipates.
That’s the premise behind Mandarin Oriental Residences, Beverly Hills, which are slated to open in Summer 2022.
Located in Beverly Hills’ Golden Triangle, the project comes from the luxury real estate development and investment firm SHVO and design studio 1508 London. As an exclusive residential property, the Mandarin Oriental brand is offering future residents the comfort of a home without giving up the convenience of hotel amenities.
“When I come home, I want to be taken care of from start to finish,” SHVO CEO and founder Michael Shvo explains to Angeleno about the residence’s concept. “I don't want to worry. I don't want to worry about the garden. I don't want to worry about the landscaper, about the cleaning staff— I just want everything to work. I want everything taken care of so I can enjoy my time with my family. I can enjoy my time with myself. I can go do whatever I want to do, which is go shopping and go to dinner and not spend time on things that that I don't want to worry about, and I'm willing to pay anything for that, right, because the biggest luxury is time.”
Mandarin Oriental Residences, Beverly Hills will feature a private porte-cochere with valet parking, a dedicated concierge team, a library, a lounge, space for meetings, an expansive rooftop with a pool, a state-of-the-art wellness and fitness center and indoor-outdoor yoga and meditation spaces. Perhaps the crown jewel will be the ground-floor restaurant helmed by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud, who will be making his West Coast debut. He will also oversee the rooftop lounge and bar and in-home dining experiences.
The turnkey residences themselves will have specially curated furniture from 1508 London and hotel accessory packages curated by Mandarin Oriental that include Frette sheets and George Jensen silver.
“It's super understated. It’s soft,” 1508 London design director Leo Bertacchini describes. “The palette is very neutral, everything is super clean and super nature-inspired. There's quite a lot of marbles and soft, sandy tones. It's just really to frame the nature on the outside: the greens, the golden California sun, everything in such a way that doesn't interfere with that.”
The sleek, mid-rise property will be made up of 54 residences, all of which include outdoor spaces benefited by Los Angeles’ beautiful weather. It honors the chic, private ways of Mandarin Oriental, while still adhering to the originality of its inhabitants.
“It allows a lot of individuality,” Bertacchini says. “Because it's neutral and everything is super well done and beautifully executed, you can put your stamp on it. You can kind of move in and actually make it your own.”
“It’s about capturing the essence or the vibrancy of the people that are going to be there,” he adds.
The SHVO-Mandarin Oriental- 1508 London project truly speaks to its environment. When considering where the hotel brand should lay roots for its first-ever residential concept in the U.S., the decision was a no-brainer.
“For us, coming to California, coming to L.A. to build Mandarin Residences, there was only one option. It was only Beverly Hills,” Shvo says. “I think the affinity to to the town is so strong and I think that people that are passionate about living in Beverly Hills, as I said, will not will not go elsewhere. But I think Beverly Hills is one of those brands that really spans worldwide… you know that that is the center of luxury on the West Coast.”
Ultimately, Mandarin Orientel Residences are setting a new standard of luxury because of one element you can’t find even in the most opulent of homes.
“Being able to lock and go is true freedom,” Shvo says. “When you just lock the house and somebody else takes care of the house, and when you come back, everything looks great.”
