As 2021 comes to a close, we want to thank you for your continued support and kindness throughout this past year. We have all been touched by tragic news in some way. Our world has been upended, but please know that we are here because of you and our hearts are overflowing with appreciation.
One of the many things we are grateful for is our continued community partnerships, including Frances Anderton who covers design and architecture in Los Angeles for radio, podcast and print. Frances will continue working with Helms Bakery District in 2022 on the programming of events and talks about design, architecture and art. Yay!
We joined forces with the Culver City Arts Foundation, promoting artist resiliency and issuing grants to a new artist each week for 52 weeks during the pandemic. It was exciting to see their images projected streetside in an ongoing gallery exhibition at the Helms Design Center. We thank each and every artist for their participation and support.
Every year we proudly partner with Cal Poly SLO and architect Stephen Phillips to host their LA Metro Series of salon-style presentations and discussions. This year Stephen, Frances and Helms organized and programmed a blowout housing exhibition, “Low Rise, Mid Rise, High Rise: Housing in L.A. Today”. We hosted speed-dating conversations with some of Los Angeles’ top architects, designers and thinkers. It was a blast reuniting with the students and the over 30+ architects who participated in the event. We thank you all for your dedication and trust.
We made some new friends like Jason E.C. Wright who hosts a monthly Instagram takeover of Arcana: Books on the Arts for ”Show & Tell”, as well as welcomed old friends such as Olga Severina from Poster Territory who installed our Biophilia poster exhibition inside the Washington Corridor Gallery.
We wish you and your families a safe, peaceful, and joyous season. May 2022 bring us all buckets of love, positivity, and good cheer!
