Beverly Hills has welcomed another beloved New York City establishment.
On Jan.16, Marea Beverly Hills opened its doors, welcoming Angelenos to savor its luxe Easy Coast traditions with a notable California flair.
Located along Camden Drive, the coastal Italian restaurant brings a new vibrance to the Beverly Hills dining scene, joining neighbors like Beverly Bar and Bacari Beverly Hills.
Marea first debuted in 2009 across the street from Central Park in NYC, also marking the establishment of its owner, Altamarea Group. Since then, the Altamarea Group has expanded its portfolio to include more than 20 restaurants across New York, Dubai, Istanbul, Washington, D.C. and more.
“Marea redefines the dining experience, capturing the essence of relaxed glamour,” said Ahmass Fakahany, CEO and founder of Altamarea Group. “Whether marking life’s grand milestones or savoring its simple moments of pleasure, Marea offers a chic and comfortable setting where every visit feels like a celebration.”
The California influence is evident in Marea’s menu, which is helmed by executive chef PJ Calapa, whose resume includes Eleven Madison Park, Nobu 57 and Ai Fiori. Diners can enjoy signature dishes of the concept, like the octopus and bone marrow fusilli pasta and lobster astice with burrata, while regional flavors are showcased through location-specific dishes. Alongside branzino tartare and marubini caprese pasta, Marea wows with a lightly torched avocado stuffed with spot prawn tartare seasoned with fennel and Calabrian chilies. Sure of its magnificence, it’s simply called “The Avocado.”
Teaming up with Calapa, Marea’s senior brand director, Francesco Grosso will curate the wine and beverage program, bringing with him over 15 years of experience with Marea as a member of the original opening team in New York. Vino connoisseurs can delight in the selection of classic, new-world and vintage bottles.
Cementing the Los Angeles-meets-NYC-experience, boutique architecture and design firm Nusla Design invigorated the restaurant with a sleek but welcoming ambiance. The alfresco dining area embraces Beverly Hills’ reputation for favored weather, while the expansive honey onyx bar entices visitors indoors. Art appreciators will take note of the original oil painting of Sophia Loren by Nasser Azam.
Marea Beverly Hills is open seven days a week from 5 to 11 p.m., and reservations are open on Seven Rooms. Lunch service will soon be available.
Marea Beverly Hills is located at 430 N Camden Dr 90210.
