TWICE AS NICE
Twin brothers Mark and Jonnie Houston felt something was missing from L.A. nightlife, so they took matters into their own hands with Houston Hospitality, a thoughtful collection of some of the city’s best venues. Here, the pair—who have multiple projects in the works— doubles down on their innovative approach to success in the social scene.

L.A. is filled with diverse nightlife. What differentiates your brands (Level 8, Black Rabbit Rose, No Vacancy and more) from your competitors?
MH: Each of our venues offers a distinct ambiance and concept, transporting guests to different eras and worlds. We focus on meticulous attention to detail, exceptional craft cocktails and high-quality entertainment, ensuring an unforgettable experience every time.
What bar have you had the most success with, and why do you think that is?
JH: It’s like asking me to choose which of my children is the most successful—they all are, in their own unique ways. For me, a bar is truly successful if it becomes a place where memories are made, whether it’s the music playing or the vibe that lingers in people’s minds.
We heard you recently took over The Doheny Room. Tell us more about this new venture.
MH: Our latest venture is Andys, a speakeasy we’re opening with one of our best friends, inspired by lavish entertainment and vibey culture of the 1970s.
What’s on the horizon for you personally and professionally?
MH: I’m excited about a few different openings, including Say Yes in Hollywood, Triple 7 Club in West Hollywood and Andy’s. Personally, I’m eager to travel and seek out new inspirations—maybe even explore ventures beyond California or internationally. Whatever the future holds, it will be an adventure with my twin brother, Jonnie—or maybe we’ll just hop in a two-seater and head for the moon!
