Mat Sanders and Studio M’s new collection is one of moody shadows and sculptural silhouettes.
L.A.-based designer Mat Sanders with his new Studio M Lighting collection
L.A.-based interior designer Mat Sanders partnered with Studio M Lighting to reveal his latest lighting collection. The designer drew upon references ranging from the brasseries of Paris to Danish modernists and his California-based approach to design to craft a collection with a combination of classical silhouettes juxtaposed with nontraditional materials.

With six styles available, the collection offers ample options for each room in the house. The Chapeau pendant and sconces present a dome-focused silhouette with flashes of white leather and satin brass. Chips, available as horizontal or vertical, comes in an array of pendant or sconce iterations that showcase perforated metal shades in aged brass or matte white. Domain (with one-, two- or three-bulb pendant options) is available in chic combinations including frost and natural aged brass, smoke strip and gunmetal, and clear and chrome. A delicate sphere covers the top half of the domelike bulb, providing a moody, focused light. Incognito (a surface mount or pendant) discreetly reveals the glow of an LED globe as it escapes from a glass shade that is opaque when not lit. Leather makes a dominating appearance in the Cavalier, available as an antique-feeling pendant, a two-light upward-facing pendant or a sconce.

The Prismatic, in pendant, ceiling or table lamp styles in black or brass metals, presents a shade sitting above a secondary glass layer, casting prismatic lights across the room. Like so much of the collection, the classically influenced yet distinctly modern style feels both familiar and foreign at the same time.
The collection ranges from the Prismatic LED table lamp to the Chips five-light vertical pendant.
