The West Coast may not be the best coast for Matt Damon. Global Mansion reports that the Academy-Award winning actor has listed his Zen-inspired mansion in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles for $21 million.
Erick Haskell of The Agency is the listing agent for the stunning property, and he says Damon and wife Luciana Barroso's decided to move their family to New York City. In 2017, The Wall Street Journal reported that the couple bought a $16 million penthouse in Brooklyn Heights, the most expensive residential property in the borough at the time. The couple reportedly "loves it there," Haskell is quoted, despite current COVID-19 restrictions.
The LA estate for sale sprawls across 13,500-square-feet and boasts a central atrium with a 35-foot-tall vaulted ceiling, open living room and dining room. With a mix of warm wood and stone, the property would not look out of place in Maui.
“It’s like a tropical retreat,” Haskell says. “You don’t feel like you’re in Southern California anymore.”
The seven-bedroom mansion also includes a gym, a home theatre, and wine storage and tasting rooms. The backyard is decked out with a children’s play area, a koi pond and an adjoining pool area. With an outdoor pavilion, waterfall and spa, the pool area is a vertiable resort.
The couple bought the Pacific Palisades property for $15 million in 2012. They haven't done any major renovations, but there has been some minor cosmetic work.
The Martian and Jason Bourne starring man won an Oscar for best original screenplay for Good Will Hunting in 1998. His newest release, The Last Duel, is slated to come out in 2021.
The Pacific Palisades area is home to other celebrities, most notably Damon’s longtime collaborator and friend Ben Affleck. Affleck is set to co-star alongside Damon in The Last Duel.
Damon’s listing agent Haskell says celebrities are drawn to the area because of its “community feel.”
