THE PARTY Maxfield’s Tommy Perse welcomed guests including Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Italian fashion house’s famed creative director of accessories and menswear, into his concrete and glass Melrose boutique, where more than 50 archival and new Baguettes hung on a custom-designed marigold yellow acrylic wall. THE PLAYERS Jeffrey Deitch, Michael Chow, Tierney Gearon, Allison Janney, Bettina Korek, Peggy Moffitt, Shannyn Sossamon, Maria Arena Bell, Mena Suvari THE HIGHLIGHTS As guests entered Maxfield’s courtyard, they encountered a massive white Baguette sculpture that evoked the grand sets of Karl Lagerfeld’s fashion shows. The similarity came as no surprise; the German mastermind designs Fendi’s women’s collections and drew the image for a limited-edition T-shirt and scarf for the bag’s 15th anniversary. But this purse was no prop. It became a living art project as guests signed the canvas and Suvari posed for pictures in front of it. Also on display were Fendi bags created by L.A. artists Chaz Bojorquez, Kenny Scharf and Pae White, which were auctioned off during the party for the original “it” bag.
