Another stylish men’s shop has landed at Platform LA. Co-founded by David Fishbein and Joseph Miller of Runyon Group, The Optimist feels like the apartment of an effortlessly dapper, well-traveled friend—but shoppable. “We felt that Los Angeles was lacking a men’s store for the new generation of creatives driving the city’s cultural renaissance,” says Fishbein. A bevy of pieces from independent global makers—many of which are exclusives—fill the meandering Jeremiah Brent-designed space, including items from Billy Reid, Dom Vetro and Parisian brand Capsul, plus vintage watches from Rolex, Longines and more. “We were inspired by the simple confidence of icons from the Showtime Lakers era,” Miller explains, listing tastemakers Dennis Hopper, Harrison Ford, Steven Speilberg, Jack Nicholson and Anjelica Huston as examples. Added bonus: A team of stylists led by Julie Feingold are on hand to provide guidance in-store and at home, making looking good an easy endeavor.
