MOCA Teen Night 2013

| May 15, 2013 | Parties

The amazingly talented teens of the Young Arts Program organized the annual MOCA Teen Night, a free event planned by teens, for teens. This year’s theme, IRL Rendered: MOCA Teen Night 2013, explored the modern-day definition of reality by means of physical and digital manipulation in cyber and real space. The event was specifically tailored around Urs Fischer, whose work toys with the boundaries between real life and fantasy by manipulating space using both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional surfaces.

At MOCA Grand Avenue, nearly 1,000 students, aged 14-19, enjoyed live performances by Eaves, Alexander The Grape, Prismic Delight, The Aquadolls, The Sophisticated Company, Knockstudy, Treyvon X, and Chris O’Bannon; T-shirt screen printing provided by ink+cotton and Topson Downs; a temporary painting environment as an art activity created by the teens; cotton candy and cupcakes provided by Frosted Cupcakery. The teens took over MOCA for the night as they viewed URS FISCHER in the galleries as well as original works by Louis Vuitton Young Arts Program apprentices in collaboration with artists Edgar Arceneaux and RETNA, displayed in the courtyard and auditorium.
