Having been in the public eye as a model, muse and actress for decades, Molly Sims has experienced a vast array of skincare brands on set and at home. Now, after years of development, she’s launching her own line, YSE Beauty (ysebeauty.com). “I was looking to create something that was equal parts beautiful and luxurious but also efficacious,” she says. “In my experience, clinical skincare didn’t feel inviting and I’ve always believed that skincare should be a joyous part of your day. I wanted to infuse some of that warmth and vitality into performance-based regimen morning and night.” Here, Sims opens up about all things YSE and how her definition of beauty has evolved over the years.

As a busy working mom, do you enjoy the “me-time” of a multi-step skincare routine, or do you prefer one that’s quick and streamlined? Ha! With three little ones, it’s definitely been a hot second since I’ve had proper “me time.” I definitely prioritize my skin and am constantly finding that happy medium of giving it the attention it deserves but not overdoing it. While I take pride in a good routine, I’m not one to waste time. At the end of the day, it comes down to the products that work: the utmost essentials and nothing else. I also have no time for products that require downtime. This is precisely what went into the thinking for YSE Beauty–only create what’s worthwhile and fits into real women’s everyday lives, and lose the rest.
What are some of your personal faves? This is like picking your favorite child; I love them all! Our Problem Solver was our “first-born” in the development process because I knew that uneven skin tone and hyperpigmentation was a problem so many women (of all ages!) deal with. It’s a targeted treatment with a powerhouse of ingredients that help lighten stubborn dark spots. The other product I’m super excited about is our Favorite Ex Exfoliating Pads. Don’t you just love the name? They’re a pre-soaked double-sided pad that gently exfoliates your skin leaving you with a brighter appearance. I’ve never seen something this good on the market before in this category—and they’re even gentle enough to use everyday. I have a pretty good feeling these two products are about to make an entrance into every beauty lover’s group chats.

How do you see the line evolving over time? Our goal is for each and every person to feel truly radiant in their own skin, so, to be completely honest, it will be based on conversations we have with our community and figuring out how we can address their needs and wants. Our hope is that we can really cater and listen to those needs, supporting them through every stage of life. Efficacy will always be at the core of what we do so it will come down to curating products in an edited fashion that help solve our customer’s skin concerns while still delivering them something irresistibly luxe and beautiful.
When do you feel the most beautiful? I feel the most beautiful when I’ve gotten a really good night’s sleep. But even beyond that, it’s when I am truly present and enjoying the moment. It’s that simple. Whether it’s no makeup at my kids’ sports games or in full glam on a red carpet.
How has your concept of beauty evolved as you’ve gotten older? I’ve come to realize that with age also comes an abundance of wisdom. I’ve stopped sweating the small stuff. Life is too short and precious to get hung up on things that don’t matter in the long run. I want women to feel unselfconscious in their skin so they can say YES to the everyday, magical moments that matter: jumping into the ocean with their kids, running out the door bare-faced to meet a friend. Your skin certainly shouldn’t dictate your ability to enjoy those moments. I don’t think it’s about being “ young”–I think it’s about aging gracefully and continuing to become more of the person I was always meant to be. I hope YSE Beauty becomes a platform for women to do that.
