Already with six locations in the Los Angeles area, KazuNori: The Original Hand Roll Bar is opening their seventh location in Studio City on Aug. 11.
Founded by Sushi Nozawa Group and named after chef Kazunori Nozawa who first introduced hand rolls to the United States nearly 40 years ago, KazuNori prides itself on serving hand rolls made with the freshest fish, specially harvested seaweed, house made sauces and signature warm rice.
Replacing its sister restaurant Sugarfish—which has relocated to The Shops at Sportsmen’s Lodge—the new KazuNori can be found at 11288 Ventura Blvd and will have the same welcoming feel as its other locations. In fact, the space will continue to be adored with “Trust Me'' and “Don’t Think. Just Eat” signs, which were given to Nozawa by his guests, during his time behind the bar at Sushi Nozawa.
“Opening KazuNori in my family’s original Studio City location is something very special to all of us,” said Sushi Nozawa Group co-founder Tom Nozawa. “To see those same guests that dined with us at Sushi Nozawa and Sugarfish eating a hand roll at KazuNori is all very exciting.”
For those who haven’t been to KazuNori before, the dining experience is unique. Instead of traditional seating, guests gather around a community bar and get to watch their hand rolls being prepared by chefs right before their very eyes. With a no reservation policy, it’s best to arrive early, especially if you’re with a larger party.
At KazuNori, the motto is to trust the kitchen which is why the menu features a series of set hand roll bundles to curate a meal proven to satisfy customers. One offering includes the four hand roll set menu, which comes with a toro hand roll, a yellowtail hand roll, a New Zealand sea bream hand roll and a crab hand roll. You’ll also find a selection of a la carte sashimi and hand rolls if you want to customize your dining experience.
While hand rolls are obviously the specialty at KazuNori, they do offer cut rolls when you order to go or delivery using Postmates.
