ALSACE LA
Get to know the city’s historic West Adams neighborhood by way of the newly opened Alsace LA. This 48-room boutique hotel—designed with fluted textures, terra-cotta plaster finishes and warm woods—is a celebration of West Adams’ creative and diverse community. “With an emphasis on the unexpected, the physical hotel is truly a one-of-a-kind space, made culturally relevant with contemporary art, photography and playful design details,” shares general manager Cristina Cervantes. The hotel invites guests to explore the area’s unique offerings, including Alta, Mizlala and Mian restaurants—all within walking distance— shops like Kneeland Co. and The Underground Museum. Rooms feature king beds and walk-in mosaic showers, and guests can enjoy peace and privacy in the 2,000-square-foot courtyard adorned with California native plants. The 24-hour fitness center is filled with new workout equipment and a yoga space, while the outdoor pool invites guests to relax and soak in the California sunshine. Visitors craving adventure beyond the hotel can explore the neighborhood on Alsace LA’s complimentary bikes. West Adams, alsacehotella.com

THE SHAY
The Shay, a destination by Hyatt Hotel, is all about community. Located in Culver City, the hotel sits next to the Metro E Line, effectively giving guests easy access to the Greater Los Angeles area including Santa Monica and Downtown L.A. “As an anchor to the Arts District, which encompasses art galleries, coffee bars, trending fitness studios and the reimagined landmark Helms Bakery building with design boutiques and specialty restaurants, The Shay will offer guests a distinct sense of place that honors old and new,” notes general manager Ryan Parker. The Shay also celebrates its urban setting with appropriate design details: think leather-wrapped rails, patinated metals and hardwoods throughout—all design choices that point to Culver City’s rich history. The 148 rooms and suites feature oversize windows, curated artwork and workstation amenities. Guests can also enjoy two restaurants from Michelin-starred chef Danny Grant of What If Syndicate group: etta, a culinary concept specializing in wood-fired foods; and Celestina, a Mexican-inspired restaurant complete with a cocktail bar on the roof deck.
