The world of dining just had one of its biggest nights of the year, and Los Angeles came out on top.
On Dec. 5, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles hosted the California Michelin Star Revelation, and L.A. walked away with 26 Michelin star restaurants, eight of which are new honorees.
“We are thrilled to have eight new Michelin stars awarded to Los Angeles restaurants, reinforcing our position as a diverse and ever-evolving global dining capital,” says Stacey Sun, culinary expert and longtime director of LA Tourism’s signature Dine LA program.
Among the newly-starred restaurants were French South-Asian bistro Camphor, 715 in downtown Los Angeles and Culver City’s Hatchet Hall.
“The rise of MICHELIN-starred restaurants in unique neighborhoods such as downtown L.A.’s Arts District – which was last week named one of the best places to go in 2023 by Condé Nast Traveler – illustrates the rapid growth of culinary prestige in emerging Los Angeles neighborhoods waiting to be discovered by locals and visitors alike.”
The ceremony also awarded 56 Bib Gourmand designations, which recognizes exceptional food at a great value (so, being able to order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $49 or less). Honorees included Silver Lake’s All Day Baby, Venice’s Chulita and Little Ethiopia’s Flavors from Afar.
What’s more, chef Nancy Silverton earned two Michelin Green stars for her restaurants Chi Spacca and Osteria Mozza. The recognition honors restaurants forging sustainable practices.
“This year’s Michelin star and Bib Gourmand honorees represent a new generation of culinary talent making their mark on Los Angeles and producing contemporary new flavors that are emblematic of what is exciting about L.A.’s diverse dining scene,” Sun says .
