Known for luxurious eyewear with an effortlessly cool edge, Barton Perreira (bartonperreira.com) has been a go-to for those in the know—including A-listers like Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez—since it launched in 2007. Co-founder Patty Perreira’s own aesthetic preferences play a large part in the designs: classic silhouettes updated with unexpected details and modernized touches. “I love vintage jewelry, cars, motorcycles and architecture [and love] incorporating details I find in these designs into my eyewear to introduce color, texture and dimension,” she says. “I like to implement these details in a sophisticated and subtle way to stay true to our refined, less-is-more aesthetic.” Those tenets set the tone for the new summer collection, a sculptural and architectural range of frames—sunglasses and optical glasses—inspired by nature and vintage influences. “The Vega frame is effortlessly glamorous and exudes high-fashion editorial style with handengraved filigree detail and the brand’s new Thunderstruck gradient lenses—an indigo that graduates into a golden champagne hue that radiates on all skin tones,” she says. “And the Vanity frame is one of my favorites from the new collection with its oversized, vintage bold square shape; sexy upswept curves; and double-laminate colorways uniquely beveled for a bicolor effect.” Perreira, who grew up outside L.A. in Downey, currently lives on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, a street rife with inspiration and character.
