Riding the anarchistic coattails of The Met’s immensely successful Punk: Chaos to Couture exhibit that dressed up this year’s Costume Institute (and themed its Met Ball) in New York, Susan Casden and Lizzie Tisch co-hosted a West Coast affair toasting curator Andrew Bolton. Present were Kate and Laura Mulleavy, of Rodarte fame, who, along with expressing excitement at having their pieces part of the celebrated exhibit, proved serendipitously well-equipped for the occasion, with sister Kate swooping in with a safety pin to rescue a partygoer from a defunct dress zipper. Certainly it doesn’t get more punk rock than that. Unless, of course, it’s a response to the question we posed: What’s the most chaos-to-couture piece in your closet?
